A série, criada por David Crane (co-criador de Friends) e Jeff Klarik (Mad About You), conta a história de um casal de roteiristas britânicos, Beverly (Tamsin Greig) e Sean Lincoln (Stephen Mangan). Com o fim de sua premiada série, “Lyman’s Boys”, o casal recebe uma proposta do executivo Merc Lapidus para fazer uma versão americana da série. Mas como as coisas tendem a se perder durante adaptações, Beverly e Sean acabam tendo que lidar com o ator Matt LeBlanc, no papel do protagonista da série.
Sean and Beverly learn that Matt passed on the new show they created for him, as the series concludes. Now they must figure out what lies ahead for their lives and careers without Matt. Meanwhile, Carol continues to pursue her lawsuit against Helen and the network.
